Staplehurst Bellringers Report July 2022
News from the Tower
I hope all our readers are enjoying the series of articles about bellringing by Rebecca Steele. Her offering this month focuses on the national youth ringing competition and can be viewed here. However, there is still much going on in our own tower, particularly now that ringers are gradually coming back following the pandemic, so we will continue to update you on what has happened and what will be happening in the months ahead.
Sadly the first thing that I have to report this month is that one of our former ringers, Ann Fulcher, died peacefully at Iden Manor on Friday 3rd June. Ann and her late husband Kevin had been stalwarts of the Staplehurst band for very many years and were great company in the pub after practice. Our thoughts and prayers are with her children Katherine and Andrew (both also former ringers here) and with her sister.
The summer is of course a popular time for visiting ringers, and we have a band from the Tonbridge District coming to ring a quarter-peal (45 minutes continuous ringing) from 10:30 am on 9th July. That aside there is no additional ringing scheduled other than our normal Tuesday practice evening and for the regular Sunday morning service.
