June 2025 Magazine Letter

Dear Everyone,
When I was young, in my church it was thought that the day to confirm the baptism vows made by your Godparents, should be Ascension Day. Whitsunday, the Feast of Pentecost, was the day to receive your first Holy Communion. These two special days are so important in the Churches calendar.
My husband, as a boarding school child in Darjeeling, was seven years old when he was confirmed. This was, he was told, because a bishop did not often visit churches in Darjeeling, so the opportunity was not to be missed. Already having five names, he was told he had to take a saint’s name. (Apart from the fact he already had two amongst his five). He could not remember what a saint was, but, as his school was called Saint Joseph, he thought that should be right.
Two important things to remember are, 1, The Holy Spirit, part of the Holy Trinity of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, is always with us. Let go and let God lead us. Listen to that small voice in our heart and head guiding us in the right way to live our life. 2, On a secular basis, do not give your child umpteen names. It is a nightmare to squeeze them all on official forms!!
Have a happy June.
God bless us always and in all ways.
Audrey
