Staplehurst Bellringers Report April 2026

We have an interesting little snippet to start this month’s report. A few months ago I was contacted by a bellringer from Stone-in-Oxney who had been given a wooden fruit bowl for a jumble sale. On the back of the bowl he discovered the inscription ‘Staplehurst church bell frame oak 1999’, together with the initials ‘RJW’. It transpires that the bowl was made from the wood of the old frame by Norman Wallis’s brother Richard and was amongst a number of items crafted by him and sold at events such as the Shepherds’ Market. Rather than be sold to someone at a jumble sale who has no knowledge of its history the bowl has now ‘come home’ to Staplehurst.

On Monday 13th April we will be holding the latest in our series of monthly advanced practices from 7.30 – 9pm but other than this no additional ringing is scheduled for April.  We have no visiting bands of ringers and there are no weddings on the calendar, so we will only be ringing for the usual Sunday Services and our Tuesday practice from 7.30pm – 9.15pm.

Finally, the Staplehurst ringers wish everyone a very Happy Easter.
